Now Viewing: kuronuma_sawakoTag type: Character The protagonist of Kimi Ni Todoke. She is a nice and gentle girl with long black hair and a hime cut. Unfortunately, she also resembles Sadako from The Ring, and has poor social skills leading people to shun her for the majority of her life. However, her situation improves after meeting Kazahaya who sees her for the person she really is after she gives him directions to the school and shows a genuine smile. Notably, Sawako often forces herself to smile, perhaps in an attempt to appear friendly to her peers, but this often ends up intimidating them. But when she smiles genuinely, she becomes beautiful. After meeting Kazehaya, Sawako befriends two other girls in her class, Yano Ayane and Yoshida Chizuru, who become her closest friends besides Kazehaya. Through them, she develops a social life and experiences many new feelings and gradually realizes that she is in love with Kazehaya. Because of her lack of social skills and innocence, she tends to misunderstand things that other characters, particularly the more savvy Yano, catch on to. She is often depicted in chibi form in the main series whenever she is impressed by something or to punctuate a gag. She is voiced by Noto_Mamiko.
